The Great War Skitour retraces the Dolomite front where the Italian Alpine troops on the one side and the Austrian and German Kaiserjäger on the other faced each other between 1915 and 1917.
The epicentre of the tour is the Col di Lana, better known as the Mount of Blood, forever disfigured by the explosion of an Italian mine in 1916.
The route crosses the Sassongher mountains, the Sella, the Marmolada, the Civetta, the Pelmo, the Cinque Torri, the Tofane, the Lagazuoi, the Conturines, the Settsass and allows visitors to admire war posts, open slits in the rock, tunnels, trenches and tunnels as evidence of the First World War.
The Great War skitour can be run clockwise, following the purple signs, or counter-clockwise following the red signs.

Tip: From a ski point of view, if you are leaving from Arabba, we recommended following the purple route in a clockwise direction.
